Program Description

Event Details

Do you ever wonder how weather is predicted? Or why dams are built? Or why some buildings survive earthquakes and others don’t? Join a 4-H educator from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County for a 4-week series of fun, hands-on exploration of forces of nature. The activities will include:

  • Making a barometer to help us forecast the weather, and Anemometer to measure how strong the wind is blowing
  • Make a rainmaker to learn about the conditions that cause rain, and a rain stick to listen to the sounds
  • Build a Dam to stop flooding
  • Design and build models of earthquake-proof buildings and test them.

Registration required, for ages 9 to 13 years.

Please note for all indoor, in-person programs:
Space is limited.  Bethlehem Central School District residents will be given priority.  If a program is not at maximum capacity 48 hours (2 days) before the registration closes, registration will be open to anyone. All registered participants will initially be placed onto a waitlist. Residents will be confirmed for the program in the order that their registration was received.
