Dark Corners Book Discussion: Reddit Edition! Join us for the 2012 novel, Penpal by Dathan Auerbach, a horror novel that got its start on the social media platform, Reddit. Copies are available the Information Desk.

Background: "Penpal (2012) is the debut novel of American author Dathan Auerbach. The horror-suspense novel is based on a series of creepypasta stories Auerbach posted to the r/nosleep forum on Reddit. The book follows the first-person narrator as he realizes he was the focus of an obsessed stalker who tracks him throughout his childhood. The work was first self-published in paperback on July 11, 2012. The stories were adapted for The NoSleep Podcast's debut season in 2011 and narrated by Sammy Raynor."

Synopsis: "In an attempt to make sense of his own mysterious and unsettling childhood memories, a man begins to reconstruct his past. As the games and adventures of his youth become engulfed by a larger story, he finds that it forms a tapestry of unbelievable horror that he never could have expected. Each chapter completes a different piece of the puzzle for both you and the narrator, and by the end of it all, you will wish that you could forget what he never knew."
