Poetry Seminar: The Aesthetics of Ecstasy

In this poetry seminar led by Dr. Natalya Sukhonos, we will discuss two very different poets: Gerard Manley Hopkins and Wallace Stevens. Both rely on the aesthetics of ecstasy to be “driven out of their mind and removed from their proper place” and to bring their readers into this state as well. We will become acquainted with their biographies, listen to a short lecture, and then launch into a Socratic seminar-style discussion of their works.
