Program Description

Event Details

Do you have a hot take and no one will hear you out about it? Now's your chance! Sign up for a spot in BPL's new series, Let Me Explain, and talk about something you're passionate about.

How it works: Each event will have a select number of topics to choose from (with provided ideas if you're not sure where to start). You submit your topic to be approved. Then you create your very own PowerPoint/Prezi/Google Slides presentation. One week before the event, submit your presentation. At the event, you'll be given up to 10 minutes to present your topic.

Topics for June:

  • Traveling

Ideas include (not limited to): Touristy spots are the best spots (or vice versa). Relaxing at a resort is the only reason to travel. It's okay/not okay to eat at McDonald's in a foreign country.

  • Music and/or Musicians

Ideas include (not limited to): Pop music all sounds the same. Stop asking people to name five songs to prove they're a fan. Or explain why you hate a beloved musician/band (or vice versa).

  • Technology

Ideas include (not limited to): Everyone should go back to "dumb phones." AI is the greatest/worst thing ever invented. Or we don't need "smart" light bulbs.

  • The Great Outdoors

Ideas include (not limited to): The outdoors are overrated. People who blast music on hikes are the worst/just having a good time. Or nature is trying to kill you.

  • Supernatural Creatures and Occurrences

Ideas include (not limited to): Ghosts are definitely real. If I could be a supernatural creatures, I would be a (blank). Magic is just a bunch of hocus pocus.

To sign up, email rachael@bethpl.org with your topic. Presentations must be kept to under 10 minutes and must be submitted at least one week before the event (6/23).

This event is open to adults of all ages. Please note, presentations must follow our Patron Conduct Policy. Bethlehem Public Library does not endorse the views, opinions, or beliefs expressed in any presentations.
