Join us for a meeting of the Own Voices Book Group. Each meeting, we will discuss a book by a diverse author. In March, we will discuss Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi. Transcendent Kingdom is about a Ghanaian family in Alabama. Gifty, the main character, is a fifth year PHD candidate, studying the science behind depression and addiction in an attempt to understand her family's suffering. Gyasi is also Ghanaian and was raised in Alabama.
