Local author Dr. Maurice Thornton will talk about how he researched wrote and published his family's history the "story of an African American family living in the American South during the late 1800�s until the present time " focusing on their lives in a segregated Alabama and the Civil Rights Era. Dr. Thornton will be available to answer your questions about how he did the genealogical research and wrote and published his book. Dr. Thornton retired adjunct professor and veteran of the Korean War is also a leading member of the 369th Veterans Association; an organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the story of the all-African American 369th Infantry Regiment (the Harlem Hellfighters) and instrumental in obtaining the Medal of Honor for local WWI hero Henry Johnson. <i>All ages welcome!</i>
