Listening Party: The History of Doo-Wop

Originating in predominately African American neighborhoods of large cities, this home-grown genre of pop music relied on the complex harmonies of vocal groups instead of instruments.  By the time the style had become outmoded in the early 60’s, Doo-Wop was ingrained into musical consciousness and continued to exert an influence in subsequent decades.
