Join us as we celebrate libraries and National Library Week this month with a special Listen & Learn sneak-preview screening of the forthcoming PBS documentary Free for All: The Public Library, which explores how public libraries shaped the country and continue to be a sanctuary for Americans everywhere.
Free for All: The Public Library tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today's librarians who service the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all.
Following the screening, join us for a discussion with Tim Burke, Executive Director of Upper Hudson Library System, and Jeremy Johannesen.
Filmmakers: Dawn Logsdon (Director, Producer, Editor) and Lucie Faulknor (Co-director, Producer).
Film runtime: 60 minutes.
This screening is made possible in partnership with PBS/Indie Lens Pop-Up. The film premieres on PBS on April 29, 2025. Watch the trailer below!
